Reggie Brothers, PhD
Dr. Reginald “Reggie” Brothers joined the Riverside Research Board of Trustees in June 2017. He is an exceptional organizational leader and strategist with over 30 years of demonstrated success across the science and technology ecosystem of academia, industry, laboratories, and the Department of Defense (DOD).
Dr. Brothers received his PhD in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and holds several accolades, patents, and publications in a wide range of technical areas. Throughout his career, he has experienced a wide range of science and technologies in both startup companies and large business sectors. Most notably, he supported the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as the Undersecretary for Science and Technology. In this presidential appointed role, Dr. Brothers led the $1B Science and Technology Directorate which is the primary research and development arm and technical core of DHS. Later, he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research for the DOD, where he led the $300M Research Directorate. In addition, he has worked for BAE Systems, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Envoy Networks, and MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
Dr. Brothers is the current Principal at the Chertoff Group where he develops growth strategies, identifies market solutions, and advises clients on the evolving nature of today’s threats and the resulting policy implications across the technology and security sectors.
