Robert A. Calico, PhD
Dr. Robert A. Calico, Jr. became an advisor to the Riverside Research Board of Trustees in January of 2007. Dr Calico received his doctoral degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1971. While a doctoral student he was an instructor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. He joined the faculty of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in 1972. He taught and did research in the area of dynamics and controls publishing extensively on topics including flexible satellite attitude dynamics and control, aircraft spin dynamics, and the control of time periodic systems. Dr. Calico became the Dean of Engineering at AFIT in 1989 and assumed additional duties as the Institute's Academic Director in 2004. He held both positions until January of 2006 when he stepped down as Dean. He retired from AFIT in July 2006.
