Background and Current Work
Klaes Wandland has served Riverside Research and our customers for over eleven years as a hyperspectral sensor subject matter expert. He is currently involved with supporting emerging bistatic radar mission sets. Klaes’ early work as a subject matter expert was primarily focused on tactical imaging programs including initiatives supporting the U-2, Global Hawk, and Predator and a range of programs from image chain analysis, sensor model standards, and hyperspectral sensor development and integration.
As the chief engineer for the ACES HY sensor, Klaes led the USAF technical team in developing and fielding the first tactical hyperspectral system for the USAF. In his role on the ACES HY program, Klaes organized contributors to assist government leadership in establishing the system’s acquisition strategy, concept of operations, and performance requirements. In addition, he led the air platform integration effort in collaboration with the MQ-1 program office (Predator) and supported the government exploitation development team to field the end-to-end capability.
Education, Awards, and Recognition
Klaes received a BS and MS in mechanical engineering and systems management from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and the Air Force Institute of Technology.
