Our status as a nonprofit research company uniquely positions us to support Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) efforts for a variety of defense and intelligence community customers. Since our inception in 1967, we have performed as a trusted partner working with industry and academia to solve our nation’s hardest problems. As trusted partner, we work closely with our customers, without conflicts of interest, to achieve mission goals through the effective use of engineering services such as Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE); Integrated Lifecycle Planning and Execution; technical baseline management; Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and other studies; verification, validation and testing; requirements definition and management; and support to operational transitions. In some cases, for decades we have engaged daily to help our clients achieve mission success.
Riverside Research supports the development and operation of some of the most advanced radar systems deployed for ballistic missile technical collection, ballistic missile defense, and space situational awareness missions. We apply a MBSE approach to analyze radar coverage and optimize search fence design for various global missile threats. The team conducts extensive threat modeling against a digital model of the radar system’s complex field-of-view limits, with various trajectory types launched from different geographic regions into virtually every portion of the current Threat Defended Areas. This includes coverage evaluation of emergent, asymmetric missile threats such as radar-evasive, highly maneuverable Hyper-Glide Vehicles (HGVs). From concept and requirements definition through formal testing, independent verification and validation, deployment, sustainment, and eventual service life extension or system modernization/upgrade, Riverside Research is a trusted partner to the U.S. government.
Our experts simulated more than 10,000 missile trajectories to analyze a radar’s search coverage effectiveness, including minimal energy, lofted, depressed, and asymmetric (non-ballistic) trajectories from 10 geographically dispersed launch sites. Our automated solution generated the trajectories based on community and stakeholder-specified flight parameters. The trajectories are flown into a uniformly distributed grid of impact points in latitude and longitude throughout all Threat Defended Areas. The results help inform warfighters and decision makers on system capability to defend against modern strategic threats and how to apply the most robust acquisition strategy.
Our experts are trusted to support some of the nation’s most critical systems. With a detailed understanding of our customer’s mission, we analyze needs, develop requirements, support acquisitions, engineer solutions, test and validate results, and provide tailored support services to address their needs. From modernizing systems to optimizing logistics, Riverside Research works side-by-side with our customers to deliver effective and vital engineering services across our wide range of capabilities.
