2013 Ohio UAS Conference attendees to earn continuing education units courtesy of Sinclair Community College and Riverside Research
Dayton, Ohio – The Dayton Development Coalition and Sinclair Workforce Development, in cooperation with Riverside Research, are pleased to present four Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) training sessions on the final day of the 2013 Ohio UAS Conference held at Sinclair’s downtown Dayton campus April 23-25.
Conference attendees will earn continuing education units (0.5 CEUs) by participating in one of the four sessions.
“The last day of this year’s Ohio UAS Conference will highlight an important partnership between industry and academia,” said Deb Norris, Vice President of Sinclair Workforce Development. “Our partnership with Riverside Research leverages the strengths and resources of each organization to accomplish one common goal: establish Ohio as a leader in Unmanned Aircraft Systems by developing a strong UAS workforce right here in the Dayton Region. The courses previewed at next month’s conference are intended to do just that.”
“Our capabilities in research, education, mission planning, analysis, cloud computing, and systems engineering offer a full spectrum of relevant UAS experience to the Dayton region and beyond,” said Shawn Kalis, Director of Education and Training at Riverside Research. “We are proud to blend our technical expertise with Sinclair’s workforce development efforts to advance unmanned systems in the commercial and government sectors.”
Regularly 8-16 hours in length, the courses developed by Riverside Research for the Sinclair UAS Training and Certification Center are offered in 4-hour preview sessions for Ohio UAS Conference attendees. Courses will run concurrently on the conference’s final half day; therefore, attendees must choose one of the following to earn the corresponding CEU credit:
UAS Airspace Applications
Instructor: Steve Yantko, Riverside Research
Description: Certificates of Authorization and Special Airworthiness Certificates are requirements to operate UAS in the National Airspace System. This course provides background on the application and execution procedures for both processes.
Current State of UAS Standards
Instructor: Shane Cuddson, Riverside Research
Description: The regulations and standards affecting the UAS community are in a state of change and modernization. This course reviews today’s UAS regulations and best practices and provides an outlook for anticipated future federal guidance.
Precision Agriculture for UAS
Instructor: Randall Sandone, Riverside Research
Description: Precision agriculture leverages advanced technologies to reduce costs while providing increased productivity, efficiency, and profitability in modern farming applications. This course demonstrates how UAS integration will multiply these benefits.
Geospatial Information for UAS
Instructor: Dr. James Lange, Riverside Research
Description: Geospatial information – any data spatially referenced with a coordinate system, projection information, and datum – is vital for the successful employment of UAS. This course reviews sources, production methods, and analysis procedures for geospatial data related to UAS.
