LEXINGTON, MA – Riverside Research, an independent, not-for-profit company providing radar acquisition and sustainment support to the Department of Defense since 1978, unveiled a renovated, state-of-the-art laboratory at the company’s Boston Research Office.
The newly expanded Radar Assessment and Development Laboratory (RAD Lab) was dedicated at a special ribbon cutting ceremony attended by several distinguished guests, including the Riverside Research Board of Trustees, senior leadership, and founding members of the office.
Thomas Pitts, Chairman of the Board, had the honor of cutting the ribbon. “With this new laboratory, Riverside Research is positioned to continue providing cutting-edge research to solve this nation’s most challenging technical problems,” he said.
With ten times the operating capacity as the original facility, the RAD Lab now boasts twenty-four high-powered workstations, four classified networks, a fully conditioned server room, and multiple offices in a sprawling 3000 sq ft laboratory. It also includes a Tech Sensor Simulation Suite, which engineers use to develop and evaluate advanced algorithms. An expanded secure communication capacity provides RAD Lab analysts with rapid access to freshly collected data.
The RAD Lab also features the Performance, Health, and Analysis of Radar Operations Suite(PHAROS), a powerful radar analysis toolset developed in 2012 under the company’s independent research and development (IR&D) program. Using PHAROS, analysts efficiently process terabytes of raw data to evaluate the performance of a variety of sensors. “For almost four decades, Riverside Research has provided unparalleled contributions to the advancement of radar technology,” said Philip Chorman, RAD Lab Director. “This newly modernized laboratory enables us to serve our customers’ requirements in an ever increasing threat environment.”
