DAYTON, OH – Thanks to the help of many corporate sponsors, the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) held the annual Kittyhawk Post Golf Classic at Twin Base Golf Course today, raising money to advance engineering education in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. The annual fund raising event, held each year at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, enables the Kittyhawk Post Education Committee to help students in the surrounding tri-state region pursue careers in engineering, science, and architecture through guided mentorship and scholarship opportunities at every degree level.

Using proceeds from the 2012 golf tournament, SAME awarded $12,500 in scholarships to twelve high school seniors and college students at the Kittyhawk Post membership meeting last month. More than forty students applied.

Riverside Research, an independent not-for-profit organization with broad expertise in security and facility engineering, contributed to the 2013 Scholarship, Education, and Mentorship fund raiser by fielding a team (pictured above) and sponsoring the event.

“This is a great opportunity to help the Kittyhawk Post develop a pipeline of qualified engineering and construction management professionals,” said Richard Annas, Riverside Research president. “Their focus on developing the technical workforce is a tremendous service to our industry, the Dayton region, and the nation as a whole. We are extremely proud to be a SAME member organization.”
