Riverside Research Enhances Dayton Research Center with New Plasma Vacuum Chamber
DAYTON, OH – Riverside Research, a not-for-profit scientific research company primarily supporting the US Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community, installed a new plasma vacuum chamber in its Dayton Research Center on January 12.
Manufactured by Pfeiffer Vacuum, a world leader in vacuum technology, the 17,000-pound plasma vacuum chamber will support research in a multitude of areas, including ionospheric and space plasma environments, hypersonic plasma environments, space propulsion, plasma-magnetic field interactions, dusty plasmas, and material processing applications of plasma.
“The installation of the new plasma vacuum chamber enables Riverside Research to perform research in a wide range of plasma phenomenologies,” said Dr. Jeffrey Pursel, Director, Open Innovation Center. “The chamber provides our current customers with advanced capabilities and paves the way for new business opportunities and outreach initiatives.”
The plasma vacuum chamber is located within the company’s recently constructed Open Innovation Center – a collaborative environment that facilitates the performance of leading edge, synergistic research and development in cyber, optics, computational electromagnetics, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
