From the Lab to the Field: Functional Electromagnetic Materials
In this video from our From the Lab to the Field series, Dr. Ryan O'Dell, Principal Investigator at Riverside Research, discusses his team’s Functional Electromagnetic Materials project.
“The functional electromagnetic materials IRAD is a project focused on developing novel materials for DOD solutions, typically to advance the state-of-the-art and components. We look to exploit upcoming materials and find ways to improve devices and components that are going to help keep our military and assets with a technological advantage,” O’Dell explains.
At present, newly developed materials are not fully explored, and it’s critical to know what happens when those new materials are added to DOD assets, O’Dell says. His team seeks to better understand the nature of these new materials.
